Bath is a small, walkable city in the south west of England, about 90 minutes from London by train. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its Georgian crescents of honey-coloured stone, the Roman Baths and the Thermae Bath Spa, the only place in England where you can bathe in naturally hot spring water. Jane Austen lived here, and the city has a lively arts scene, theatres, cafes and independent shops.
It is a good place to learn English: the centre is compact and safe, it has two universities and a large international student population, and day trips to Bristol, Oxford, Stonehenge, Cardiff or London are easy. Bristol airport is about 50 minutes away by road.
